Rookie Sundaramoorthy to Embark on Road to Indy Path with Pabst Racing
Oconomowoc, Wisconsin (December 19, 2018) - Today, Pabst Racing announced the signing of 15-year-old youngster, Yuven Sundaramoorthy for the 2019 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship. Sundaramoorthy, who will be 16 on February 22nd, was born in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where Pabst Racing is based. He found his love for the sport while spectating at a Formula One race in Shanghai, where he lived for six years.
Sundaramoorthy’s career that began in karting on the other side of the world led him back to the United States four years ago, which opened the door to competition in the F1600 Championship. A productive and successful two seasons (earning a 4th and 3rd place in the points championship), decided the next step for the high school junior’s motorsport career.
“I am so excited to be driving with Pabst Racing this year and taking the next step in my racing career,” said Sundaramoorthy. “I’m really looking forward to the hyper-competitive experience in USF2000 and learning from my new teammates as well. My goal is to get some top-fives early in the season, then improve to podiums and wins later in the year.”
Sundaramoorthy, who now resides in Guilderland, New York, stays active outside of racing and school with robotics, computer programming as well as other sports such as snowboarding and basketball. He took part in the recent Road to Indy Presented by Cooper Tires series test at Homestead-Miami Speedway with Pabst Racing where his effort and results proved to impress his new team.
“We are thrilled to announce Yuven as a driver for Pabst Racing in 2019,” said team owner Augie Pabst. “Yuven is a hard-working and talented driver and we expect to see great results from him. Our work together so far has been fantastic, and we can’t wait to get the season started.”
Sundaramoorthy, who will pilot the #21 Pabst Racing entry, is the team’s second driver announcement in preparation for 2019. Fans should look forward to more announcements from the team early 2019.
